Boiler Plant Equipment Mechanic

We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview:  Employee is required to install, maintain and repair oil and gas fired hot air furnaces; high and low pressure hot water and steam boilers with emphasis on component equipment such as burners, controls, pilots, igniters, thermostat controls, pressure controls, meters, regulators, automatic controls, valves; gas vaporizing units; gas dryers; feed pumps; and other equipment associated with gas and oil burning equipment.  Required to disconnect fuel lines, disassemble to make necessary mechanical or simple electrical repairs, replacing worn or damaged ports and placing equipment into proper operation. Installs and adjusts thermostats and other automatic controls and safety devices.  Work performed on gas and oil fired high and low pressure hot water boilers, high and low pressure steam boilers, hot air units, hot water tanks, involves repair and maintenance of all component parts associated with such units including ducts, stacks, pumps, gauges, meters, relief valves, etc.  On occasion may be required to dig trenches, clean boilers and components and perform other tasks as necessary. Required to have a wide background of trade experience in the repair and installation of gas and oil fired equipment. Must possess knowledge of many types of oil and gas burners, natural and propane, pipe lines, installation and repair, storage tank maintenance. Must know proper gas and oil equipment to be installed in boilers, heating units, galley equipment, etc. Must be able to work with and understand pneumatic and electrical controls. Skill in using a reseating machine and/or lathe.  Must be able to use hand and power operated tools of the trade, power vises, electrical drills, pipe machines, grinders, expanders, etc.  Must be able to read, write and apply practical arithmetic and be able to lay out work in a swift and efficient manner. Must have been trained in the installation and repair of low pressure gas and natural gas lines. Must be able to repair gas leaks in main lines. Physical demands – be in good physical condition with vision and hearing normal with or without corrective devices. Must possess a valid California driver’s license. A minimum of 3 years experience is required.
