We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview: Boiler Plant Worker is required to adjust fires, water level, air/fuel input, dampers, valves and other boiler controls for safe and economical plant operation; operate fuel pumps, water pumps, heat exchangers, fuel strainers and similar equipment; clean burners, and change burner tips and electrodes as required; test boiler water using standard chemicals, and may be required to deliver boiler chemicals from bulk storage to individual boiler rooms; perform operational boiler safety checks such as flame failure, low water, high-pressure cut-off, safety valves and other controls; read meters, gauges, and logs results; light off and secure boilers and heating units; perform operator maintenance such as packing pumps and valves, oiling and greasing of all plant equipment, and replacing gauge glasses, fuel pump belts, burner tips, electrodes and scanners; perform touch-up painting and maintain plant and equipment clean and free of rust; maintain boiler room logs and other records such as water consumption and daily fuel consumption; perform operator inspection of equipment, reporting all discrepancies to the workshop supervisor; may also assist other employees in repair of plant equipment and other related duties as required, such as operate gas/air evaporizing plants in an emergency. Employee may clean waters ides and fireside of boilers. Must have a thorough knowledge of the mechanisms and theories of boilers, burners and auxiliaries and should also have a working knowledge of combustion as applied to various types of boilers, boiler water testing, and chemical boiler treatment. Employee must possess a valid California Drivers License and must be able to qualify for, obtain, and maintain a Government Vehicle Operator's Permit to operate vehicles with load capacity up to 3-tons. Spot checks are made by the supervisor for the safe and proper operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliaries, and cleanliness of boilers and boiler rooms. Individual should be alert at all times as the slightest deficiency in the mechanisms of the boilers, such as low water in the boiler, extreme water temperature or steam pressure, faulty or broken pipes or leaking boilers, etc., could, if neglected, result in serious and expensive damage to the boiler and property, and extremely serious injury to the employee or others in the area. It is the responsibility of the Boiler Plant Worker to keep posted on the logs, in each boiler room, the work performed, boiler blow-downs, feed water treatment, water softener regeneration, boiler control safety checks and operational maintenance performed. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
