Minority entity, which has been in operation since 1987. We are proposing on a
5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified
employees to fill these positions.

FUNCTIONS: I
Overview: An Electrician performs a variety of
electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment
for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work
involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of
electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers,
circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission
equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications,
locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working
standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical
equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing
instruments. The work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training
and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent
training and experience.
Performs all types of electrical work including maintenance of wiring and equipment, installation, and electrical construction; repairs and maintains electric motors, electric galley equipment, appliances, power and lighting transformers; tests, locates, and repairs electrical trouble on all low voltage (under 600 volts) installations. Duties include installing rigid conduit, thin wall conduit, flexible conduit or non-metallic sheathed cable and the size wire related to the job; and maintenance and repair of any electrical installation, machine and appliance in Camp Pendleton. Complete installations are performed when required, from the entrance cap through a meter and entrance switch to lights and outlets, single phase and three-phase to machines and appliances. Individual is assigned to work on the bench work, repairing electrical equipment of all types including appliances, galley equipment, motors, tools, meters, etc., and when determined to be more efficient, makes such repairs in the shop rather than in the field. Installations are usually made from plans or sketches provided, but there are times when the employee may have to do his own layout and installation, using his own initiative and electrical knowledge. Individual must be familiar with all electrical materials, maintain truck stocks on trucks assigned, and may be required to recommend procurement of materials necessary for jobs. May issue tools, equipment and parts; performs a full range of journeyman level electrical work; must be familiar with various items of test equipment such as volt-meters, ammeters, meg-ohmmeters, etc.; and must have a thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Individual must be skilled in the use of tools applicable to the electrical trade such as power benders, drill motors, threaders, soldering torches, brazing and welding torches, knock-out cutters, fish tapes, etc., in addition to the normal hand tools an Electrician carries. Must use sound judgment and initiative in doing work as dangerous situations may arise which need immediate action and the supervisor is not available for instruction. Individual must possess a valid California Drivers License and must be able to obtain a government operator's permit to operate a truck up to 3 tons. Receives assignments from the shop supervisor both orally and in writing, and is responsible for performing and completing work in a safe manner and adhering to all safety regulations. Individual is responsible for all shop tools and equipment assigned, as well as required to furnish own tools of the trade as listed by the organization. Responsible for the proper care and cleanliness of vehicles and equipment assigned, and for the completion of each job assignment to include jobsite clean-up after the job is completed. May be required to lift and carry weights up to 45 pounds for short distances. Work requires a limited amount of crawling, pulling, reaching above the shoulders, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending, climbing and the ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Individual may perform work from ladders and scaffolding at various heights. Such work requires the use of arms and legs in climbing. Individual must have normal vision and hearing with or without corrective devices and the ability to distinguish basic color and shades of color to differentiate wire colors, etc. Works inside and outside with occasional exposure to excessive heat, cold, humidity, dampness and intermittent noise, and will be exposed to electrical energy, slippery or uneven walking surfaces and working around machinery with moving parts/objects or vehicles with occasional work below ground. Individual works on assigned shifts but may be subject to be “on call” 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Safety glasses are furnished and required at all times while working. Meters, drill motors, bits, tap, files, hacksaw blades, pipe wrenches over l4”, benders, hickeys, power operated tools and soldering equipment will be furnished. Individual must furnish own personal hand tools common to the electrical trade. A minimum of 2 years journeyman level experience in troubleshooting/repair of low voltage electric is required.
