Engineering Technician IV - Facilities Evaluator

We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview: The Engineering Technician IV performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexities, using operational precedents that are not fully applicable, such assignments that are typically parts of broader assignments, are screened to eliminate unusual design problems. This technician receives technical advice from supervisor or engineer. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). This position may be assisted by lower level technicians and have frequent contact with professionals and others within the establishment, and performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

a. Developing or reviewing designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data, applying conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists. (Examples of designs include: detailed circuit diagrams; hardware fittings or test equipment involving a variety of mechanisms; conventional piping systems; and building site layouts).

b. Conducting tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures, preparing and operating equipment, recording data, measuring and recording problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level, and analyzes data and prepares test reports.

c. Applying methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects, constructing experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conducts tests or experiments and redesigns as necessary and recording and evaluating data and report findings.

 

Employee will be required to perform building evaluations and condition assessments using establish methods; visually evaluate the condition of the exterior envelope, the structural components, the interior finishes, the mechanical/plumbing/electrical systems, and the functional use of the building; document data; interact with internal and external organizations to gain information as to the condition and access to the building; ensure functional requirements for data content and quality are maintained; provide professional guidance regarding the civil engineering works, its mapping, and data collection; document findings and analysis for the government’s review and comment; should serious safety issues be found, notify the building occupant and Facilities Maintenance Department immediately; apply experience as a building inspector or building contractor with knowledge of building component and systems; apply experience in multi-million dollar commercial projects; apply advanced capabilities with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; communicate effectively both orally and written.  Must have a valid State of California drivers license and able to drive a government vehicle that may be required for field work.  This position requires a minimum of 5 years experience and will provide qualifications as a general building inspector.
