employees to fill these positions.

FUNCTIONS: I
Overview: The Industrial Equipment Mechanic diagnoses
problems, plans sequences of repairs, disassemblies, orders replacement parts,
repair/overhauls, reassembles, completes installation and test operates a
variety of mechanical equipment such as pumping equipment used in water supply
and distribution, sewage collections and treatment, chemical purification,
pipeline pumping stations, booster stations, deepwater wells, boiler plants,
heating systems and related facilities. Types of pumps commonly installed, maintained and repaired are deep well turbine pumps, centrifugal pumps, piston pumps, diaphragm
pumps, gear pumps, sewage lift
pumps, sump pumps, vacuum pumps,
chlorine pumps, waster booster pumps, circulating pumps, boiler feed pumps, fuel oil pumps, fire truck
pumps and associated equipment connected or related to
pumping systems such as filters, traps, valves, heat exchangers, automatic valves, pressure controls, automatic starting and stopping devices, float switches, back flow preventers and pressure reducing valves. Responsibilities include overhaul and repair pumps; replace
impellers, sleeves, and bearings; clean and lubricate various parts; repack pumps
and valves; repair automatic valves; adjust pressure controls for automatic
starting and stopping of pumps and equipment; replaces mechanical seals, bearings, bushing, impellers, and drive couplings; remove, replace and align electric drive motors and engines; remove and replace piping, fittings, valves, steam traps and filters; repair and adjust pressure reducing valves, float valves, and pump controls; connect pumping engines to fuel supply and connect the discharge side
of pumps to water mains;
repair clarifier reduction gear boxes, bull gears and all other mechanical
equipment related to sewage disposal
plants, water treatment plants, boiler steam plants and swimming pools. For stationary
mechanical equipment to include air compressors, single stage low pressure to
multistage high pressure and large volume type compressors. Determine problems
to air system, make corrections and repairs to all associated components, i.e.
inner-coolers, ball check valves, reed valves, accumulator tanks, pressure
regulations, automatic controls and automatic unloaders;
and align motors and drive units. For air handlers and blowers for heating systems
and ventilation systems will replace bearings, shafts, and squirrel cages;
align motors; adjust belts; and correct vibration and noise problems. A minimum
of 4 years of experience is required.
