We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview: The Swimming Pool Operator operates and maintains swimming pool and auxiliary equipment, fills pool and tests water for proper chlorine content, regulates feeders and puts in prescribed amounts of soda ash and chlorine according to specific instructions to purify water, checks heating and pumping equipment, and adjusts or makes minor repairs using mechanic's hand tools. This operator changes chlorine tanks, as required, removes leaves and other debris from water, using net, cleans bottom and sides of pool, using such aids as underwater vacuum cleaner, hose, brush, detergent, acid solution, and sander. Inspects and replaces loose or damaged tile, cleans and repairs filter system. Reports emergencies or unusual malfunctions to superior, and prepares report of materials used and work performed.

 

This individual operates, cleans and maintains swimming pools and related facilities throughout Camp Pendleton including one pool located at NAD Fallbrook and one at U.S. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. Individual operates circulating pumps and sump pumps; opens spit trough  drains when pools are occupied; controls heating of pool water by setting heat control and operates small, low pressure heating plants connected with the swimming pool facilities; lubricates pumps and motors; makes adjustments on chlorine machines, valves, and control valves; performs operational maintenance on all equipment including chlorine machines; back washes pressure filters and maintains same; prepares reports on total quantity of water treated, amounts of chlorine, alum and soda ash added to water, the PH value water at re-circulating pumps, average residual chlorine content of the pools, the setting of the chlorinator, and chemical solution feeders; submits samples of filtered and unfiltered water; records test results and water temperatures; cleans pools, facilities and surrounding area, using vacuum action equipment, brushes and other cleaning equipment and materials; checks and cleans filters, lines and pump house. Must have a thorough knowledge of swimming pool operations and the operation of all types of filters (i.e. rapid sand filters and pressure type filters), chlorinators, vacuum pumps, electrical starter switches, water testing apparatus and chemical feeders; be able to connect up chlorine gas cylinders properly without endangering self or others; be able to handle 150 pound chlorine cylinders, climb ladders, kneel, crawl, push, pull and reach. May be subjected to rotating shafts, belts, pulleys and flywheels; stooping, bending, lifting, and climbing ladders; walking on catwalks, platforms, and in and out of pits; electrical float switches and starters; and chlorine gas. Must be a Certified Aquatic Facility Operator or National Swimming Pool Foundation Operator, possess a valid California State driver’s license, and be able to satisfactorily pass the driver test to obtain the U.S. Government operator’s permit for a ¾ ton vehicle. This position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience.
