TRUCK DRIVER

We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview: This position drives straight in line trucks of gross vehicle weight ratings in excess of 32,000 pounds, or any tractor and semi-trailer combination, and trailer combination, or any double bottom combinations, such as truck and trailer, or tractor, semi-trailer and trailer. Required to drive vehicles either on a specific trip basis or upon a regularly established schedule and route to transport material and heavy equipment within the activity, between activities, or between the activity and outside points; load and unload various types of heavy construction equipment to be transported, or direct other employees in this task; maintain all written reports such as fuel consumption, accurate account of time and man hours involved in work, and any other written reports as deemed necessary to ensure efficient completion of work assigned; drives such vehicles as in line mobile truck cranes and light trailers, forklift, gradalls, water tanker tractor and semi-trailer combinations when tractor is rated over 32,000 GVW, and will drive tractor and semi-trailers, tractor and trailer, truck and trailer when in excess of 32,000 pounds; drive a lighter vehicle as occasions warrant; secure loads with chains or ropes for safe delivery between departure and destination; check functional operations of vehicles, such as tires, brakes, batteries, lights, fuel, oil, water, mirrors, radiator, flares, fire extinguishers, etc.; keep vehicles clean and serviceable. Must be thoroughly familiar with all state and local laws as well as Marine Corps regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles and is required to have a government operator's permit to drive vehicles in excess of 15 tons. Must have a valid Class “A” California drivers license and a forklift operator’s license; be thoroughly familiar with hooking up different types and combinations of trailers, also driving low bed machinery trailers, both gasoline and diesel driven tractors. May be required to lift and carry weights up to 45 pounds or more for short distances. Work may require a limited amount of reaching above the shoulders, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing and the ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Contractor must have normal vision and hearing with or without corrective devices, depth perception and the ability to distinguish basic colors to differentiate colors of curbs, etc. Protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and hard hats are furnished as required. This position requires a minimum of 3 years experience.
