We are proposing on a 5-year contract at Camp Pendleton, CA. and seek highly experienced, qualified employees to fill these positions. 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: I

Overview:  Operational duties for the system require proper operation and process control (Class 4 & 5 plants require a Grade II License), trade and supervision skills, and the ability to accurate complete State and Federal mandated Reports.  May be required to operate a variety of treatment plants and/or lift pumping stations at any location on the base; read meters, gauges and charts; regulate wastewater flows in accordance with established procedures; maintain maintenance and operating logs; operate and check plant equipment including pumps, valves, electric motors, switch gears, compressors, blowers and air diffusers, chlorinators, clarifiers, digesters and diesel generators; clean and lubricate equipment; operate pumps and other allied equipment; check equipment to determine operating condition and make necessary adjustments; perform general maintenance and repair of equipment utilized in and around the plant; record instrument readings; change 150 lb. and 1-ton chlorine tanks as needed; adjust proper chlorine dosage for odor control and disinfection; perform all necessary control tests and calculations to maintain efficient operations; perform general janitorial and light maintenance repair work in and around the plant, including grounds keeping and painting; perform chemical tests; operate aeration equipment; record results of test and other measurements; and plot data on graphsEmployee is responsible for the production of reclaimed water used for irrigation; maintaining up-to-date as-built drawings of all on-site reclaimed water systems; operating and maintaining all facilities in compliance with the reclaimed water purveyor’s Rules and Regulations for reclaimed water serviceMust have the knowledge and skills to apply and comply with reclaimed water use provisions contained in Title 22 and Title 17 of the California Code of Regulations, and American Water Works Association (AWWA) reuse guidelines; the Tertiary Wastewater Treatment Process; use and operate various kinds of equipment such as nitrification removal process, chemical flocculation, oxidation chambers, aeration equipment, clarifiers and filtration; use computer operations and the graphic systems related to Wastewater Treatment Systems; interpret computerized information and relate it in decision making of plant operational process control. Employee will complete reports including but not limited to daily operation of the treatment plant, operation of lift and pumping stations, weekly reports and monthly reports, and will initiate and compile pertinent data and record the results in standardized reports that are submitted directly by Contractor to the State of California Regulatory Agencies through AC/S ES, including the Department of Health Services and the Regional State Water Quality Control Board. Must be a qualified journeyman in the trade of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and must have a practical working knowledge of pipefitter, plumber, welder, electrician, etc. trades; knowledge of safety and OSHA practices in operation of mechanical machinery used in wastewater treatment systems and basic construction practices; knowledge of chemistry and ability to interpret the resulting data from laboratory sampling and testing for correct plant operation; ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals and specifications; ability to follow instructions and understand the terms of the technical aspects required for proper operation of the plantPerforms a variety of the semi - skilled maintenance duties involved in the operation and upkeep of plant equipment and facilities under the direction of the Wastewater Operator Leader and/or Supervisor. Responsible for checking equipment for proper operation, and detecting and correcting malfunctions to neutralize potentially toxic chemicals during the treatment process prior to final discharge. Must have knowledge of chemical and biological reactions and their effect in the treatment process. Employee will make additional adjustments to chemical additives based upon a prescribed set of Federal and State Regulations and report findings according to established guidelines. Must work independently and exercise individual judgment. Must use instruments such as dissolved oxygen meters, PH meters, water meters, mag meters, constant reading chlorine residual meters and constant reading turbidity meters; be skilled in monitoring equipment operations to ensure correct processing of waste through successive stages of the wastewater system; observe all safety precautions for everyone’s safety; abide by OSHA and HAZMAT standards; work independently as well as cooperatively with others as part of a team; maintain and update preventative maintenance and assorted daily, weekly and monthly logs of each treatment plant and pumping station assigned; use technical manuals and work procedures to be applied directly or modified as necessary when determined by the operator and approved by the supervisor. Employees will not deviate from specific instructions given by the supervisor or leader regarding the operation of the particular treatment plantMust furnish certain basic hand tools associated with this trade including 10” and 12” crescent wrench, adjustable pliers, channel lock type pliers, assorted screwdrivers [3 types of each, straight edge and Phillips head, ranging from 4” to 10”], 8” and 14” pipe wrench, claw hammer, 10 oz. ball peen hammer, set of Allen wrenches, and assorted open and box end wrenches ranging from 3/8” to 1”.  All tools must be in good condition and are subject to verification upon employment. This position requires a State of California driver’s license, and State of California Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
